Debunking Senior Living Myths

Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Rock Creek Senior Living community and services.

I transitioned into long-term care from my role as a social worker and case manager. During that time, I witnessed the struggle older adults faced in accessing necessary services. As an admissions director, I realized I could have a greater impact as an administrator for aging adults. I pursued licensure through further education and am now serving as an Executive Director.

Our residents truly value the efforts put forth by an Executive Director. Recently, one senior faced a health episode that led to hospitalization and subsequent skilled care. With no family nearby, I personally delivered essential items and clothing to him during his rehabilitation. The joy on his face upon my visit was truly heartwarming.

Dispelling Misconceptions: Embracing Quality Living in Senior Communities

A prevalent myth about senior living is the misconception that it signifies the end of life. We provide a quality of life that many people may not have access to. Aging doesn’t have to equate to misery.

By fostering social interactions, nurturing friendships, and ensuring peace of mind, we enable older adults to age gracefully without becoming a burden to their families and friends. Our residents often express sentiments like, “I wish I had made this decision sooner!”
