Kindness is defined as doing something toward yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference. Kindness is shown to increase self esteem and mood, decrease stress levels, improve relationships, slow aging, and is accompanied by emotional warmth. Research shows kindness and mental health are deeply connected.
We at Rock Creek Senior Living know that one act of kindness can lead to many more. Kindness is contagious and it begins with you!
Kindness, to me, means having compassion, being friendly, being selfless, and caring. I think the best way to encourage kindness and put a smile on someone’s face is to offer your own smile. Compliment people, too; everyone loves a compliment!
We can help to inspire others to spread kindness by simply being kind ourselves. People will spread kindness like wildfire if others are kind to them.
I feel staff do a great job improving the quality of life in our hospice residents through kindness. Staff will give hand massages, talk to them, play music in the apartments, and make sure to preserve their dignity. Staff are compassionate and kind throughout the journey.
Kindness is important to health and well-being. It can help reduce stress, not only in the person being kind, but also in the person receiving the kindness.
Rock Creek Senior Living practices kindness each day with every resident, whether they live in Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care. Arrow Senior Living believes “Acts of Kindness can drive change in the world.” We hope kindness finds its way to and from you.
